Sometimes, a deep emotional connection to a place and a sense of nostalgia can inspire a great project. While on a family outing to the town of Kin Kin, the hometown of VIDA co-founder's mother, the family noticed that the historic pub was for sale. Located in the Noosa Hinterland along the Countryside Loop, a 14 km trail, the pub instantly stood out as a potential key attraction for a broader touristic vision. VIDA approached a long-tim friend and respected food entrepreneur David Ezrine, celebrated for introducing the Big Green Egg to Michelin-starred chefs across the UK and beyond. Drawing on his extensive hospitality experience, David invited chef Oscar Holgado, formerly of Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, to help establish The Kin Kin as a culinary destination rooted in artisanal food production and locally sourced, made-from-scratch ingredients. With the support of the Noosa City Council and Ellie Ezrine of Squid Ink Interior Design, VIDA and the team have proudly placed The Kin Kin hotel on the map — a place where heritage, craft and community come together.
