The KIN KIN HOTEL
Sometimes, a deep emotional connection to a place and a sense of nostalgia can inspire a great project. While on a family outing to the town of Kin Kin, the hometown of VIDA co-founder's mother, the family noticed that the historic pub was for sale. Located in the Noosa Hinterland next to the Countryside Loop, a 14 km trail, this pub instantly stood out as a potential key attraction for a broader touristic vision. VIDA approached David Erzine, a respected food entrepreneur developer and close friend, celebrated for introducing the Big Green Egg to Michelin-starred chefs in the UK and beyond.
Gatherings are the heart and soul of many small towns, with pubs historically playing a vital role in curating community - creating trade, employment and connection. David's hospitality experience led him to bring renowned chef Oscar Holgado, from Michelin-starred Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, to establish The Kin Kin as a food-based destination with a menu focused on artisanal food production using locally sourced or made-from-scratch ingredients. With the support of the Noosa City Council and Ellie Ezrine of Squid Ink Interior Design, VIDA and the team have successfully placed The Kin Kin hotel prominently on the map.
