Marriott
Well-known in Costa Rica and around the world, the Marriott brand is no newcomer to the planning and development process. VIDA was approached by the new Costa Rican ownership team to establish renovation and expansion strategies to remain competitive in the ever-evolving tourism industry at two of their properties: Los Sueños on the Central Pacific coast and Hacienda Belén in the Central Valley. Both properties began with a VIDA Session on site to understand the opportunities and priorities for sustainability, residential components, guest amenities and overall guest experience, drawing on the inherent qualities and characteristics of each property. The Marriott Los Sueños and Vacation Club process has been driven by the desire to enhance the laid back, tropical-modern feeling through materials, shapes and planting in external spaces with simple interventions to create user-friendly spaces for guests. The Marriott Hacienda Belén concept is driven by the ‘hacienda’ coffee experience, the removal of conflicting uses like golf has allowed for more site-appropriate uses such as events, children’s playspace and a mixed-use development to support the economic objectives of the project.
