Landscape Designers focus on the design, curation, sourcing, and procurement of plant material for projects across Costa Rica and the region. The ideal candidate is someone who understands tropical plants inside out, not just from textbooks, but from real experience in nurseries, on the field, on construction sites, and can deliver from concept to implementation of award winning projects.

Qualifications 
  •  5-10+ years’ experience working with tropical plants and large-scale projects
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of plants, nurseries, and the landscape industry
  • Ability to understand plant growth and plan for long-term development
  • Experience in creating and managing planting palettes
  • Proficiency in Land F/X (required)
  • Background in the nursery or landscape industry; practical, on-the-ground experience is essential
  • Strong organizational and budgeting skills
  • Great taste and strong design sensibility
  • Experience leading projects and working with teams
The Role 

Landscape Designers will take a hands-on role bringing expertise in tropical planting, sourcing and procuring plant material, and leading the development of planting plans, with strong on-site experience and close collaboration with the team. The ideal candidate will have a background in both small- and large-scale hospitality projects.

  • Source and procure plant material from nurseries and growers across Costa Rica and Central America
  • Build planting palettes and concepts that are beautiful, innovative and resiliant while aligning with VIDA’s design vision
  • Assemble budgets and procurement processes for planting
  • Oversee planting on site, ensuring quality and design intent
  • Train staff and build awareness of planting culture within the team
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver large-scale landscape projects
  • Maintain a strong aesthetic eye and ensure the highest design standards
